Erica Belmont, PhD

Director of Hybrid Decarbonization

Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) + Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) + Biochar + Biofuel

As the Director of Hybrid Decarbonization, Dr. Erica Belmont leads a group at Carbon Direct focused on hybrid strategies that harness nature and engineering to achieve target outcomes. Erica and her team bring a breadth of scientific, engineering, and market expertise to support highest quality solution growth and client decision-making.

Dr. Belmont has worked in decarbonization for approximately 15 years with particular emphasis on thermochemical conversion and biogenic feedstocks. Applications of her work include fuel reforming for hydrogen production and biomass conversion for energy, materials, and carbon removal. Prior to that, she worked in the chemical refining and fuel cell industries for several years.

Dr. Belmont received her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas-Austin, and her master's degree in mechanical engineering and her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, both from Tufts University.

Dr. Belmont is also an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wyoming.
